La bióloga y divulgadora científica, madrina de la asociación Magic Eagle, ofrecía la conferencia “La Historia más fascinante del mundo” en la Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera. En la jornada, el conseller de Medio Ambiente presentaba el proyecto de colaboración con la ONG Magic Eagle para impulsar terapias asistidas con aves en centros de educación especial de la Comunidad Valenciana
“Debemos reintegrarnos en el sistema vivo planetario, ayudando a que se sane el planeta”. Con estas palabras, la bióloga y divulgadora científica Odile Rodríguez de la Fuente invitaba a reflexionar sobre nuestro papel en la conservación del planeta, durante la conferencia que ha ofrecido en la Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera.
Los estudiantes llenaban el Aula Magna de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud para asistir a esta jornada organizada desde la Facultad de Veterinaria de la CEU UCH y el club de estudiantes de Medicina Zoológica (CMES-AVAFES), en colaboración con la ONG Magic Eagle, dedicada a terapias con aves rapaces en centros educativos, residencias de mayores o centros de atención a personas con discapacidad.
El acto contaba con la asistencia del conseller de Medio Ambiente, Infraestructuras y Territorio, Vicente Martínez Mus; el vicerrector de Calidad y Estudiantes, Javier Montañez; el decano de la Facultad de Veterinaria, Joaquín Sopena; los representantes de Magic Eagle, Macarena Rodríguez y Juan Francisco Martínez; y el profesor de Veterinaria Víctor Lizana, que coordinaba esta jornada junto al profesor Jordi Aguiló.
Defensa de los animales y respeto a la naturaleza
En su intervención, el conseller Martínez Mus presentaba el proyecto de colaboración entre la Generalitat y Magic Eagle para impulsar terapias asistidas con aves en centros de educación especial. Una iniciativa novedosa que, además de diferentes sesiones de terapia con rapaces destinadas a personas con discapacidad intelectual de la Comunitat Valenciana, incluirá charlas medioambientales para fomentar el interés por la protección de los espacios naturales, su flora y su fauna, entre los más jóvenes.
“Desde la Generalitat confiamos en los grandes resultados de este programa inspirado en la defensa los animales, el respeto a los demás y a la naturaleza, las tres líneas argumentales del legado de Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente”, destacaba el conseller.
La historia más fascinante del mundo
Odile Rodríguez de la Fuente iniciaba su intervención recordando la figura y legado de su padre, Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente, “un pionero que nos enseñó a amar la naturaleza”. La bióloga recordaba que el naturalista “convirtió la divulgación ambiental en un movimiento de masas”, a través de una serie de programas innovadores donde nos hablaba de la naturaleza “como algo nuestro, de las especies como hermanos”.
En su intervención, la divulgadora se centraba en su última obra: “La historia más fascinante del mundo”, un texto que desentraña la historia del planeta Tierra desde su formación hasta la aparición de los primeros seres humanos.
Durante su charla, presentaba diferentes episodios de la Tierra: días que solo duraban cinco horas, épocas en las que se convirtió en una gran bola de nieve, o un mundo dominado por reptiles y escorpiones gigantes de hasta 70 centímetros.
“La Tierra es un planeta insólito”, afirmaba, “con una serie de propiedades únicas”. En este sentido, ha reflexionado sobre el papel de las especies animales, de las plantas y los seres humanos, como pilares de la tierra. “La humanidad debería poner su extraordinaria capacidad de reflexión al servicio de la vida”, destacaba.
Recordaba que tenemos un compromiso con la tierra y debemos contribuir a restaurar los ecosistemas. En este sentido, ha invitado a los asistentes a “imitar las fórmulas de la naturaleza” y tratar de hacer las cosas con el menor impacto.
Compromiso con el bienestar de los animales y las personas
Odile Rodríguez de la Fuente es la madrina de Magic Eagle. Se trata de la primera asociación de ayuda a la integración con animales que utiliza aves rapaces como instrumento para realizar sus intervenciones o terapias. Aunque también cuenta con otros animales (perros y cabras enanas), son estas aves (águilas y lechuzas) las que ocupan un primer plano en su labor.

Students filled the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Health Sciences to attend this event organised by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the CEU UCH and the Zoological Medicine student club (CMES-AVAFES), in collaboration with the NGO Magic Eagle, dedicated to therapies with birds of prey in educational centres, nursing homes or centres for the care of people with disabilities.
The event was attended by the regional minister for the Environment, Infrastructure and Territory, Vicente Martínez Mus; the vice-rector for Quality and Students, Javier Montañez; the dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Joaquín Sopena; the representatives of Magic Eagle, Macarena Rodríguez and Juan Francisco Martínez; and the professor of Veterinary Medicine Víctor Lizana, who coordinated this event together with professor Jordi Aguiló.
Animal protection and respect for nature
In his speech, the councillor Martínez Mus presented the collaboration project between the Generalitat and Magic Eagle to promote bird-assisted therapies in special education centres. A novel initiative which, in addition to different therapy sessions with birds of prey aimed at people with intellectual disabilities in the Valencian Community, will include environmental talks to promote interest in the protection of natural spaces, their flora and fauna, among the youngest.
“At the Generalitat we are confident in the great results of this programme inspired by the defence of animals, respect for others and for nature, the three main lines of argument of the legacy of Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente”, the councillor emphasised.
The most fascinating story in the world
Odile Rodríguez de la Fuente began her speech by recalling the figure and legacy of her father, Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente, “a pioneer who taught us to love nature”. The biologist recalled that the naturalist “turned environmental dissemination into a mass movement” through a series of innovative programs where he spoke to us about nature “as something of ours, about species as brothers.”
In her speech, the disseminator focused on her latest work: “The most fascinating history of the world,” a text that unravels the history of planet Earth from its formation to the appearance of the first human beings.
During her talk, she presented different episodes of the Earth: days that only lasted five hours, periods in which it became a huge snowball, or a world dominated by reptiles and giant scorpions up to 70 centimeters long.
“The Earth is an unusual planet,” she said, “with a series of unique properties.” In this sense, she reflected on the role of animal species, plants and human beings, as pillars of the earth. “Humanity should put its extraordinary capacity for reflection at the service of life,” she stressed.
She recalled that we have a commitment to the earth and we must contribute to restoring ecosystems. In this sense, she invited the attendees to “imitate the formulas of nature” and try to do things with the least impact.
Commitment to the well-being of animals and people
Odile Rodríguez de la Fuente is the godmother of Magic Eagle. It is the first association for helping integration with animals that uses birds of prey as an instrument to carry out its interventions or therapies. Although it also has other animals (dogs and dwarf goats), it is these birds (eagles and owls) that occupy the foreground in its work.
