Ser portador de San Blas es una emoción y sensación indescriptible, imposible expresar con palabras, además de un orgullo y alegría el sentirse un privilegiado por tal honor.
El domingo 12 de enero se llevará a cabo el gran día de los Amigos de San Blas, con diferentes actos entre los que destacan, la diana con charamita y tamboril, el almuerzo de hermandad, la misa en honor de los festeros fallecidos y la imposición de nuevas medallas a sus nuevos amigos junto a la imagen del patrón San Blas.
Numerosas personas ya disponen de la medalla de los Amigos de San Blas en el año 2011, en la Ciudad del Vaticano, la recibía el entonces papa, Benedicto XVI y el Cardenal Monseñor Antonio Cañizares, ministro del Vaticano, una medalla de amigos de San Blas. El obispo de Orihuela Monseñor Pablo Barrachina y Estevan, también recibió con mucha alegría dicha medalla en el año 1985 siendo predicador en la misa mayor y dijo que en ese momento ya «era amigo de San Blas«. El 3 de febrero de 2014 en una de las visitas del Obispo de la Diócesis de Alicante Orihuela a Sax, siendo el predicador de nuestras fiestas de San Blas, Monseñor Don Jesús Murgui Soriano, recibía de manos de uno de los amigos de San Blas, Francisco Llorens Molina, la medalla de la entidad festera.
Fue en el año 1977 un grupo de amigos, tomaban la palabra en el cabildo, para presentar esta asociación que pretendía, y hasta ahora lo sigue haciendo, que San Blas siempre fuese a hombros de juventud, festeros, sajeños y sobre todo amigos. En las fiestas de 1978 fue cuando comenzaron su andadura que en este 2024 ya cumple su 46 aniversario.
La actual imagen de San Blas data del año 1940, y en las mismas fiestas de Moros y Cristianos, se realizan 3 procesiones, pero sin duda la más especial es cuando es subida la imagen en donde se realizan 3 vueltas a la imagen.
Los portadores no son siempre los mismos, cualquier persona puede portar al Santo en sus procesiones, lo que permite acercarse en todo momento a San Blas y mostrarle su agradecimiento y sentimiento por su protección y por su ejemplo como santo.
