Fantaelx 2024 presentaba sus obras premiadas en la Clausura que tuvo lugar la tarde del sábado 30 de noviembre en el Auditorio del Centro de Congresos “Ciutat d’Elx”, contando con una elevada presencia de público, además de cineastas participantes y premiados. Además, también se contó con la asistencia de Irene Ruiz Nortes, Concejal de Cultura y Turismo del Ayuntamiento de Elche; María Asunción Amorós, Vicerrectora de Cultura, Igualdad y Diversidad de la Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche; los invitados honoríficos Paul Urkijo y Nerea Torrijos, director y directora de vestuario de la película “Irati”, proyectada esa misma mañana en el marco del evento; la artista Susana Guerrero, creadora de la Dama de Elche presente en el cartel de la duodécima edición del festival, que ha homenajeado el “folk horror”; o Beatriz Hernández, directora del Skyline Benidorm Film Festival.
En la presente edición se han exhibido más de cincuenta obras que han competido en las diferentes categorías, muchas de ellas subtituladas al valenciano y con audiodescripción para personas con discapacidad auditiva. A la sección oficial también se le suma la segunda edición del Premio especial FANTAELX-L’ALJUB, donde parte del estudiantado de la Universidad Miguel Hernández estrenó sus cortometrajes de animación en los cines ABC del centro comercial, resultando ganador el trabajo “Remiendos”, de Marina Baeza, Alex Gil, Ana Paul, Cristina Galipienso y Leonardo Guevara.
En cuanto al palmarés de la sección oficial, la película valenciana “Tú no eres yo”, de Marisa Crespo y Moisés Romera, se ha alzando con el premio al mejor largometraje, siendo el primer título que obtiene dicho galardón en esta nueva categoría del festival. Otra de las novedades ha sido el premio al mejor proyecto de largometraje, que ha sido concedido a “Lethes”, de Jose Larrosa y Héctor Bastida. Por otro lado, el cortometraje “Mi Zona”, de Cristian Beteta, ha obtenido el premio al mejor cortometraje nacional, dándole acceso directo al Festival 1000 Gritos de Buenos Aires (Argentina). La directora británica Anna-Ester Volozh, por su parte, ha ganado el premio al mejor cortometraje internacional con su obra de animación “The Wedding Veil of the Proud Princess”, que accederá al Skyline Benidorm Film Festival. El premio al mejor cortometraje alicantino ha sido otorgado a “Los cómplices”, de Alberto Evangelio, dándole acceso al festival Navidades Sangrientas – Weekend Horror Awards, de Alicante.
Asimismo, también se han premiado el Falso Tráiler “La terrible matanza sangrienta en la que todos mueren, menos la chica, durante una fiesta nocturna de cumpleaños THE REMAKE”, dirigido por Guillermo Rojo; y el cortometraje “Depredador”, de Javier Fesser, que ha recibido el galardón al mejor cortometraje “Social y Fantástico”, el cual será proyectado en el Festival de Cine Sant Joan d’Alacant. Además, este año también se ha incorporado el premio del público, ganándolo el cortometraje “Dolor Fantasma”, de Ana Torres Martínez.
El jurado internacional de la duodécima edición del festival ha sido compuesto por la actriz y cineasta Silvia Conesa, también encargada de conducir la Gala de Clausura; la artista visual Beatriz Galiano; la productora e investigadora Michelle Copmans; el cineasta y director del Festival 1000 Gritos Matías Sánchez; el guionista y director Joan Martín Giménez; y Mario-Paul Martínez Fabre, cineasta, profesor del Departamento de Arte de la Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche, director del Grupo de Investigación Massiva y subdirector del festival.
La duodécima edición del festival, dirigido por Fran Mateu, ha sido organizada por la Asociación “Unicornio Negro”, el Centro de Investigación en Artes (CíA) y el grupo de investigación Massiva UMH. Asimismo, también ha contado con el apoyo de organismos y entidades, como el Instituto Valenciano de Cultura (IVC), la Diputación de Alicante, la Concejalía de Cultura del Excmo. Ayuntamiento de Elche, Visit Elche, el Vicerrectorado de Cultura, Igualdad y Diversidad de la Universidad Miguel Hernández, el centro comercial L’Aljub, la tienda alicantina Cinema Paradiso, la plataforma Shadowz, el Lope de Vega International School, la Asociación Cineclub Catral, o la librería ilicitana Ali i Truc, donde se presentó el libro “Ciencia y criaturas de lo fantástico” en el marco del festival. Con esta nueva edición, se ha vuelto a crear un destacado punto de encuentro para los amantes del género fantástico.
Fantaelx 2024 presented its award-winning works at the Closing Ceremony that took place on the afternoon of Saturday, November 30, in the Auditorium of the “Ciutat d’Elx” Congress Center, with a large number of people attending, as well as participating and award-winning filmmakers. In this edition, more than fifty works have been exhibited that have competed in the different categories, many of them subtitled in Valencian and with audio description for people with hearing disabilities. The second edition of the FANTAELX-L’ALJUB Special Award has also been added to the official section, where part of the Miguel Hernández University students premiered their animated short films in the ABC cinemas of the shopping centre, with the work “Remiendos” by Marina Baeza, Alex Gil, Ana Paul, Cristina Galipienso and Leonardo Guevara being the winner.

The international jury of the twelfth edition of the festival has been composed of the actress and filmmaker Silvia Conesa, also in charge of hosting the Closing Gala; the visual artist Beatriz Galiano; the producer and researcher Michelle Copmans; the filmmaker and director of the 1000 Gritos Festival Matías Sánchez; the scriptwriter and director Joan Martín Giménez; and Mario-Paul Martínez Fabre, filmmaker, professor of the Department of Art at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, director of the Massiva Research Group and deputy director of the festival.
The twelfth edition of the festival, directed by Fran Mateu, has been organised by the “Unicornio Negro” Association, the Centre for Research in Arts (CíA) and the Massiva UMH research group. It has also had the support of organisations and entities such as the Valencian Institute of Culture (IVC), the Alicante Provincial Council, the Department of Culture of the Elche City Council, Visit Elche, the Vice-Rectorate for Culture, Equality and Diversity of the Miguel Hernández University, the L’Aljub shopping centre, the Alicante store Cinema Paradiso, the Shadowz platform, the Lope de Vega International School, the Catral Cineclub Association, or the Elche bookshop Ali i Truc, where the book “Science and creatures of the fantastic” was presented within the framework of the festival. With this new edition, a prominent meeting point for lovers of the fantasy genre has once again been created.
